ABOUT ME

Born in the corn fields of Johnson County Kansas, my father’s family has resided there since the 1800’s.

Writing never came easy to me until I was given the opportunity to do book reviews for New Age Retailer (now Retailer Insight)  during the late 1990’s and then reviewed for Hay House Publishers.

During the 11 years I worked for a member of Congress, I helped write legislation, draft grants and assist cities/counties/special districts with projects and proposals.

In 2007-2009 I wrote a number of grants and overviews for funding Fire Station #1 and the Community Health Clinic in Escalante, Utah that were both constructed and completed in 2010.

I always wanted to write for a newspaper and got my chance from 2007 – 2010 for the weekly newspaper in Escalante, Utah.  Since that time my writing has focused on the historical significance of Escalante and assisting in the proposal for Historic District designation which was approved November, 2012.

My “day job” is fiber artist and beadweaver making miniature baskets and finely woven beaded necklaces, amulet bags and Christmas ornaments.  I knit for my own soul and give them away to Operation Gratitude.

You can see my work at Jana’s Journals.

I love historical fiction and am in the process of writing my first historic novel.
